EHI began with one around a family table.

We found ourselves returning to the same questions: how do we care for the places that sustain us? How do we support the people who know and value them? And how can different kinds of knowledge, experience and ambition come together to create something that lasts?

Those questions led to the creation of Earth Harmony Initiatives, a foundation built around the belief that people and nature can truly thrive together. We learn from the many people and initiatives already showing what that can look like, support ideas with the potential to grow, and bring together a community of people working towards a healthier relationship between humanity and the natural world.

Today, we work alongside communities, researchers, organisations and partners to turn ideas into action. We bring people together around shared purpose, help good ideas find the support they need, and create space for new possibilities to take root.

There is no single path to a healthier relationship between people and nature. We believe the future is shaped by learning from what works, supporting what shows promise, and making space for what comes next.

Board Chairman - Rafael Borén

Rafael is the founder and Chairman of Meteologica, a technology and research company specialising in weather and climate information. Trained as a forest engineer, he has spent decades building organisations and teams while maintaining a strong commitment to conservation.

At EHI, he brings together his experience in business and science with a deep curiosity about the natural world and a belief in thoughtful, ambitious work.

Communications Lead - Natalie Jarvis

Shaped by a background in marine biology and a deep, enduring connection to the natural world. Her perspective is rooted in the delicate balance of ecosystems, informed by years of observing and understanding how life below the surface reflects broader environmental patterns. With a quiet attentiveness, she approaches her work as an ongoing dialogue with nature, guided by a commitment to preservation, care, and the long-term health of the planet.

Technical Coordinator - German Gómez

Brings together a foundation in architecture with a strong interest in nature, project management, and personal development. His work is defined by an ability to navigate complex systems, where built environments and human dynamics intersect. Through a thoughtful and structured approach, he focuses on creating projects that respond not only to space, but to the people and communities within it, aiming for solutions that are both sustainable and socially grounded. 

Field Operations Consultant - George Roumeguere  

George’s life and work have been closely tied to the Maasai Mara and to the wider landscapes of East Africa. Raised in the Mara, he grew up with an early understanding of its communities, wildlife and the ways in which people and the landscape shape one another. Over the course of a varied career in safari, aviation, wildlife filmmaking and conservation, he has seen the region from many different angles and developed a deep understanding of the forces shaping its future. He founded the Dawntodusk Foundation to support community-led conservation in the Mara, and has long worked towards finding practical ways for people and wildlife to continue to share the landscape.

Project Advisor - Calvin Cottar

Calvin Cottar established Cottar’s 1920s Camp in Olderkesi with a vision of conservation that extends beyond protecting wildlife to supporting the people and landscapes that sustain it. Through the Cottar’s Wildlife Conservation Trust and his work in Olderkesi, he has helped develop a model that brings together wildlife protection, land rights, community livelihoods and responsible tourism. His work has contributed to protecting an important wildlife corridor between the Maasai Mara, Serengeti and Loita ecosystems, while creating tangible incentives for local landowners to conserve the landscape. He brings to EHI a deep knowledge of East African conservation and a practical understanding of how environmental protection can be rooted in the interests of the people who live alongside it.

Chief Executive Officer - Bryan Atkins 

Bryan brings more than two decades of experience at the intersection of conservation, climate resilience and sustainable development. His career has taken him across Africa and beyond, spanning field-based conservation, forest management, environmental policy, carbon markets and large-scale landscape restoration. He has held leadership and advisory roles with organisations including Eden: People+Planet and Compassionate Carbon. He is also a co-founder and Chairman of the Kijabe Forest Trust in Kenya, reflecting a long-standing commitment to locally rooted conservation.
